Speaker 1:

Minus 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 8 and 10, start 4, 3, 2, 1. Hey guys, I'm Carly, I'm Megan.

Speaker 2:

And I'm Lauren, and welcome to the takeover of Hire Orbit. How's everyone doing tonight? We're pretty good. Yeah, this was I was saying earlier that, like it's my day off today and I haven't spoken to a single human being today until I walked into the room.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and I talked to like way too many human beings today it happens to all of us. You know?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, exactly, and I was here actually working at the store. So yeah, Lauren was hustling. Hustling making out money Word. Sorry, I've been lazy today. Hey, no shame in being lazy, you know. That's what you know having a good day off is for. So yeah, I was at.

Speaker 1:

Hall of Flowers today with High Buds Club, so that was pretty fun Awesome. Yeah, got a lot of free weed.

Speaker 2:

Oh awesome. Yeah, she's super sweet. Yeah, no, she's a rock star.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, Like yeah, she's awesome Still are.

Speaker 2:

Love it. Yeah, so this is the takeover of Hire Orbit. This is, you know, this is the girls night. This is Charlie's run in the shop tonight. You know the boys are out of the studio and the girls are here. The girls and the gays, and the gays, and we're taking over, we're taking over.

Speaker 1:

We're coming into your living room, open your door, we're knocking, or in your car People do listen in the car, well yeah.

Speaker 2:

If I had a car I would listen in my car, but alas, toronto's expensive. Yeah, maybe we're on a subway, girly till I die, till I die. And also, being high on the subway, not as high, oh, we have come to our first drive. It's like daytime and, like I'm in a certain area, yeah, smoking on. You know when you go over that bridge, yeah.

Speaker 1:

In the East end.

Speaker 2:

In the East end and you're like stone and you like don't even realize that it's coming and you're like sitting there, like, oh, you're trying to like keep your feet on the ground and then all of a sudden it's like whoosh, yeah that fair enough.

Speaker 1:

Especially in the fall, I feel like I'm just like way too aware of my surroundings when I'm on the subway.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

So if I'm stoned, it's not a good combination of things.

Speaker 2:

Also, when you're stoned on the subway somehow, like that's just when the weirdest people come up and talk to you. Yeah, always it's like they can smell it on you. I mean they literally can, but yeah, yeah. So, megan Hi, who are you? Oh, hi.

Speaker 1:

Hi me, who is that?

Speaker 2:

Who is this? Who is this lovely person, hi? Well, my name is Megan, my pronouns are she, her. I've been working in cannabis for two years now, smoking since I was 16, you know, so been around, been around the block, but been in the industry for a bit now. I love it. It's great. It's a sense of community pays my bills. It's awesome, yeah.

Speaker 1:

I love that. And when did you start at Charlie's yeah?

Speaker 2:

Oh, actually, yes, I'm one of the newer additions. I started in late May. I recently moved into the area. I mean, like I've been in Toronto most of my life, like I like to say I'm Toronto born and raised. I did live in Joisy for a second there when I was a kid. I was like to say I didn't get the accent but I kept the loud. So yeah, and I recently moved into the area and then I found the store and it was amazing. And then I submitted an application and they were like you're amazing and yeah, but I was working in another dispensary before this. So that explains the experience. Cool, yeah, yeah. So who's next over here that I'm looking at? Whoa.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so lovely lady in the middle, lady in the middle Rock in the bangs yeah. Rock in the bangs, the bangs. Yeah, I'm Carly. Yeah, I've been in the industry for a hot minute. I was like working at an illegal dispensary in like 2018. And then I quit because they were threatening to raid us. Yes, I was crazy and then fun.

Speaker 2:

No, if you're looking to get into the industry.

Speaker 1:

maybe don't do that, no, but it was still fun, though it was still fun. Yeah, it was a good experience.

Speaker 2:

And it was before weed was legalized in Canada.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, okay, yeah. So it was kind of cool to see the contrast when I switched over to the legal side. But yeah, so then I worked in Manitoba for a few years and then I moved here and then I started working at Cosmic Charlie's Sick. Here we are.

Speaker 2:

Love that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and I do. I'm a photographer and stuff on the side too, carly's on all of us Doing a lot of stuff. Yeah, and I'm a talented.

Speaker 2:

Stop. Yeah, you can find her prints in the store. So come to the store and get her prints. Yeah, love the love. Art.

Speaker 1:

But my art, thanks. Who's that over there? Who's that over?

Speaker 2:

there. Hi, oh my God, hello. So I'm Lauren. Hello, I've been in the industry since legalization pretty much. Also, my pronouns pronouns sorry are she, they, her? I don't give a shit what you call me. You know, this is as long as you're nice, because I get my feelings hurt very easily. So, yeah, I've been in the industry since legalization pretty much. I used to work at a different dispensary, you know was parting a part of an opening crew there, you know, and you know as things happen, you know you've you want to move on, you want to try different things, and I found these guys, you know, and here I am over a year later. So, yeah, it's been, it's been great working in this industry. Um, yeah, I also just started school, so for culinary. So that's like another hell. Yeah, can we get the air horn sound? Oh shit.

Speaker 1:

I'm working this on board and speaking at the same time. It's hard.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, give Carly.

Speaker 1:

Carly Woo yes, oh my God, very good.

Speaker 2:

But yeah, we're missing the boys today, you know yeah, but we're stepping outside of our comfort zone.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, definitely Do a little spare month, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

So please let us know how you guys like it. If you guys like us, do you like us? Do you want us here again? We want to do it again. Um, good shit. Do we talk about our sponsor today? That's a good idea, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, shout out to Sheesh's hash sodas. Dude, there's a soda right there. Oh my God, it's like someone put it there on purpose or something. No one would ever do. That we're talking about. That's a fey, yeah, no, but sheesh is the best. We fucking love Sheesh as a. As budtenders, I think we all usually appreciate that. It's like a full spectrum beverage Hard to find on the market.

Speaker 2:

Um, it tastes. It actually tastes great, Like you don't get that, like that weird aftertaste that you usually get sometimes with some cannabis drinks, but it's very like, complimentary to the overall vibe, for sure, slightly sativa dominant, which we like, yeah, yeah. It's a very feel it in your toes, man vibe, you know, yeah, it is great all year round, not just the summertime. You know. So great all year round. Matt's the best too. Yeah, Shout out to Matt. I think we're gonna get some ice cream on that. Make a little float.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we're doing that in the store tomorrow. Yeah, by the time. That's all you've done, but that's okay. Sorry you missed it.

Speaker 2:

If you missed it, well, you should be following our Instagram. So, and even there good job. But, yes, we love Sheesh Slay, yeah, awesome. So, speaking of, you know the industry and you know where we all came from and where we all are right now. I mean, we're all budtenders, you know, we're all. You know who you're gonna see, who you're gonna talk to when you come into the store, so like, and that's the thing.

Speaker 1:

One of us is almost always there.

Speaker 2:

One of us is almost always, almost always there. But I think the other thing with along with that is that this store is primarily female run, other than Sean and Charlie, so you know snaps to them. And also we have our delivery boys, which you know. We love them too.

Speaker 1:

We love our delivery boys Absolutely.

Speaker 2:

But yeah, I guess, like, how have you guys experienced, you know, being a female in this industry and even working here or other places, or is there, you know, is there anything that, like, really is made an impact in you and like you know anything that you might want to see change or anything?

Speaker 1:

I think most of the time it's good, but there are times I think people under appreciate our input when it comes to maybe like recommending them products, or yeah, I feel like it's, for some reason, easier for people to like overlook our opinions, even though we know what the fuck we're talking about and we have experience. Most of the time it's good, though, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Like the amount of times that like men are just like. They come to me and you know they're like oh, I'm looking for some flour and I was like okay, well.

Speaker 2:

I want to survive, whatever. And then I like I do my thing and then like, right in the middle of my spiel, to be like, do you smoke? Like do you smoke? And I'm like, look, I understand, in this industry you don't have to smoke. I'm not saying you need to smoke to be a budtender, but my guy, would you ask me that if I was a man? I don't think so. Yeah, for real. Like you know, I'm coming in here with the knowledge you're getting a little intimidated. And now you're asking if I even smoke, I smoke, yeah, and even if I didn't, I do my research. We do a lot of research as budtenders. We talk amongst each other Exactly, share so much information Like it doesn't even matter if I smoke. Man, if you want it, if you want me to recommend you, good, we just respect the fact that this is my job.

Speaker 1:

This is our job. I also I've sometimes reps even too. I mean. Then again, Sean and Charlie are great, and I understand why people want to talk to them all the time, but there's times that they come in and they're like oh the boys aren't here and they leave and I'm like I'm selling your product to buddy. Like I want to hear your. I want to hear your pitch. Like I want to hear what you're all about too.

Speaker 2:

Like I don't know, I agree, yeah, that happens. We love Sean and Charlie, and like they, you know. But I think it's time for you know, like a little bit more love to be shown our way.

Speaker 1:

Exactly it's on the ground. That's not saying. I'm not saying that people don't show us love.

Speaker 2:

There's a lot of love for us. People love us. The amount of days that I've like come into the store like you know, just having some whatever crap going on in my regular life, and by the end of the day like I'm literally smiling because our customers are like so nice and everybody is very supportive, and just the conversations and everybody wants and not everybody, but lots of people like to chat and all that and just like they literally like make my day Like I love this job. For that Everybody's, for the most part, super nice, yeah. So shout out to our regulars we love you. Shout out to our regulars. Shout out to Criti.

Speaker 1:

Shout out to Criti.

Speaker 2:

Yes, always come in and sing in the smile on our face.

Speaker 1:

Oh, yeah, yeah, what else?

Speaker 2:

There's some other notes here. Yeah, go for it. You are taking charge. I'm loving it.

Speaker 1:

I guess we could talk about kind of what like keeps us in the cannabis industry too, Like there's a lot of industries out there available to us, but I think maybe just stay here.

Speaker 2:

I mean, I guess, maybe I might have a good like say, because I'm literally in school right now. I'm in school for culinary and you know I have a love for both industries. You know I love weed. I've been smoking weed since I was way younger than I should probably say on here. Don't worry, I already said it earlier.

Speaker 1:

You know, I, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure.

Speaker 2:

It's a place where, for the most part, again, everybody has that one thing in common and everyone has another level of laid backness, another level of calmness and just understanding. And I think I actually mentioned this too. I forget who I mentioned it to one of you guys, or maybe Sean or Charlie but I think the reason why our customers are so amazing and why we think they're so amazing and why they keep on coming back, is that a lot of our customers here, especially at Cosmic Charlie's, are service workers.

Speaker 1:

They're people who work in the service industry, so they understand what we have to deal with.

Speaker 2:

We're getting slammed with Uber orders or the phone's ringing nonstop and there's people yelling at us. And they're the people that actually take a step back and they're like, okay, they're having a minute, they just need a second and then they'll, because, at the end of the day, they know us and we'll give them good service. You give us a chance. It's true, we just want to help guys. I swear to God, we're not trying to make you seem lesser than, or judging you for what you smoke, or trying to give you bad weed.

Speaker 1:

Yeah we're not.

Speaker 2:

We genuinely like. If I sell you bad weed, are you going to come back?

Speaker 1:

No, I don't want to try to sell you things that you like yeah. I think that's kind of a rewarding part too about being in the industry is actually being able to like curate people's experiences and like yeah, kind of just like understand where they're coming from, especially like I honestly love when a newbie comes in and is like I've never done an edible. Yeah, I honestly I love those interactions. Yes.

Speaker 2:

I think they're grubby little hands together.

Speaker 1:

What can I give you? Yeah, I don't know, even just yeah. And then like, when they come back, it's the best too, and they're just like, oh what, what you gave me really worked? Or even like maybe it didn't work, but I, like, am open to trying something else and like your recommendation.

Speaker 2:

So, yeah, when they come back in there like I loved it and I'm like you loved it.

Speaker 1:

I love that for you. Let me send you up on a Cosmopast. Let's get that in writing. Let's get that in writing.

Speaker 2:

Although every once in a while someone's like you know, I'm like I'm almost 100% sure that this is going to be good, and they're like I'll hold you to that, and I was like, well, don't sue me later, there's no writing, but usually, for the most part, I have about, I have about a 99% success rate. Don't quote me on that, yeah, but but yeah, it's been a really rewarding industry. I also started this when I was in school. I was in school for theater production Cool. I've been a theatrical lady since the day I was born. Really, yeah.

Speaker 2:

You're making fun of me over there. It's okay. Yeah, I started it when I was in school. I just needed like a. I just needed like a part time job on the side. Obviously, I've been smoking for a long time and then, yeah, I was blessed, even my last place. Shout out to my old team. You know who you are. They were awesome and they really just like elevated me and I learned so much about cannabis and now I can I can talk about it so easily.

Speaker 1:

There was so much education from the beginning and then that has just continued as I've come here. And yeah, in commenting on the like curating an experience for someone, I think that's what I like the most is that you really just get to know people. I freaking love people. I'm a disgusting extrovert. Like.

Speaker 2:

I get fueled by people talking to me. You will see my face light up over the course of a conversation typically and so it's just nice to get to know people and curate things and I don't know, it's just nice to, I don't know maybe that comes with being slightly neurodivergent too, where it's like it's just aiming for those.

Speaker 1:

You're also a Gemini. Yes, oh man we're getting into zodiac signs. I'm a.

Speaker 2:

Gemini Pisces Pisces for anybody curious. So it's rough out here.

Speaker 1:

You're slang yes.

Speaker 2:

I think we're all slang serving, serving all the time, and I said it.

Speaker 1:

We were nervous about saying it and I was like I'm going to drop it.

Speaker 2:

If anyone can say it, it's you.

Speaker 1:

It's us Sorry.

Speaker 2:

Sean and Charlie.

Speaker 1:

That's soundboard. You're killer with that soundboard, thank you, yeah. All female production today, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Get ready, guys.

Speaker 1:

You just wait till we start rolling a dup. Yes, silly Speaking of, maybe I should start rolling one. Yeah, fuck it.

Speaker 2:

Why not Pull him out? Do you need the tray yeah?

Speaker 1:

that would be cool. Thank you, shit. We don't have a grinder, do we? Is there one over there? There's got to be one over there.

Speaker 2:

So one of the inspirations.

Speaker 1:

We did not prepare. No, it's okay, we'll do it after. We'll do it a bit.

Speaker 2:

We surrounded by it. Let's go. We always got weed around, yeah, but if you guys have ever seen the movie nine to five, what the fuck is that Is Charlie back.

Speaker 1:

Is Charlie back? Oh, I think he is.

Speaker 2:

See and leave this in, because people need to know how we do this. Anyways, I just wanted to mention that there's a weed strain in that movie called Maui Wowi, that they smoke in that movie, if anybody has heard of it. It is a very small hidden strain. I don't know if people have heard of Maui Wowi. Anyways if you're not smoking Maui Wowi right now. You should. What are we smoking, by the way? Yeah, what are you guys smoking recently?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I tried to take a break and then I took a bong the other day, so the bong does call. But I smoked the Medine Medine. Medine is so tasty. Yeah, it's been my. I also had the Laffy Tappy by Melt. That one I was smoking on a little bit. That one was pretty good actually. Definitely more of a sativa girl over here.

Speaker 2:

Yes, you've always been a sativa girl. I've been more of like a indie, hybrid, indica hybrid kind of person, for sure.

Speaker 1:

What have you been smoking?

Speaker 2:

Recently I smoked the Death Bubba by 64, 1964. That one was pretty fire. I like that Also. I'm smoking a little bit of the quote unquote dad's blend. So if you all know, richard who, is behind the scenes here.

Speaker 1:

Shout out, Richard.

Speaker 2:

He's also my father, so fun fact. There I was here, first I was going to say Nebo Baby, I was here first. You are curbing the Nebo Baby allegations, but yeah, so no, I love my dad and he's the best dad I could ever ask for, and I know he and he likes to, when he rolls his joints he likes to bang out his grinder in the in his little bin and everything.

Speaker 2:

And then he collects all of that and puts it in a jar and at the end it's quite a hefty amount. It's probably about like seven to 14 grams usually. And then he gives that jar to me. He's like here you go, I'm going to say a blend of everything that's ever been in the store.

Speaker 1:

Richard's blend. I love that. Richard's berry dust oh, I like that. What are you smoking?

Speaker 2:

I mean, I've been. I'm not as much of a smoker as these two. I'm a little bit more on the edibles, I'm a little bit more on the bevvies, hence the love for Sheesh. Also Recently, though I don't know because I've been, I've been kind of on the CBD stuff a little bit. I don't know Like I've been smoking that CBD runs. I've been like ripping big bowls of that, because I used to be able to rip bowls like fucking crazy. I don't know what happened to my lungs. I don't know if you can hear it in my voice. So I was like putting some CBD runs in my bowls to like try to get back to be able to do it again. I've been smoking that. That's fire. Big on the edibles, big on those live rosin edibles. Shout out to anybody doing that. That shit is so fire. Oh, rosin heads.

Speaker 1:

Those coins yeah, those rosin heads Exactly like a fucking good. I saw it today. Take it to the school jam yeah, awesome.

Speaker 2:

And also big on Purple Hills. I'm a big vapor, big on Purple Hills. Orangeade Shout out Best card ever. So you're getting a lot of mix here. So you're getting like edible and bevy vape person. You're getting the sativa and you're getting the indica. See, that's like a perfect team dynamic. We be talking, we be talking about products. So you know, come on over, I want to talk product to you, baby, let's go.

Speaker 1:

I guess before we take a break, we can talk about the giveaway. We're doing so essentially for every episode on Instagram. We release a trailer generally, so when this one goes out, I think all the information it's going to be on the post itself too. But essentially, if you're by tender, you're legible, you'll just have to like, share the trailer, take us on Instagram.

Speaker 2:

Maybe with your, with the story work out or something.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we'll figure out a way to verify that you're about to enter but, we're going to call your work, yeah, and then essentially you'll win like a one of a kind, like custom, like tie dyed shirt yeah, it's like a specialty like tie dye.

Speaker 2:

teacher is wicked. Yeah, perfect for intricate.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Perfect. Perfect for the fellow stoner, yeah For the fellow lover of weed.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so once, once this is out, that should be up and going.

Speaker 2:

So sweet. Check it out, let's see. I want to. I want to make out with the sheesh cam. It's not that kind of a show. Welcome back everyone to the takeover of higher orbit podcast with Lauren Megan and Carly Boomer. Yeah, slay, we are back. Get used to it.

Speaker 1:

God, if you guys don't like this, I'm going to hunt you down and make you rewatch this until you like it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, five stars from everybody, exactly, yes, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Follow higher orbit on Instagram yes, Subscribe to us on.

Speaker 2:

YouTube. Follow us on Instagram.

Speaker 1:

Listen on Spotify. Yeah, give us all the love. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Give us all the love we love it All right. So, speaking of reviews, yeah, I was. I was wanted to talk a little bit, or you wanted to talk a little bit more, about tipping culture in industry.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

Showing your review through monetary value. Yes, we love that. Yeah, so I mean, obviously, tipping is a very controversial subject to talk about, especially in Ontario, I feel like anywhere in Canada, and I think that's a good thing, because I don't know, I feel like a lot of people are now under Well, like they're upset with the amount that people are asking for for their service, for the tips, which I Can't agree. Like there's some places they're asking for like 45, 50% and that's like immediately, it's not even like you get those smaller options.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's fair enough.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, it's a little ridiculous there, but you know, you know I don't think it's unfair, for you know like the service that you know we're providing, especially you know when we're talking to some people for upwards of 30, 40 minutes. You know like giving them advice. You know talking about everything.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I feel like I never really expected tip, though, to be honest.

Speaker 2:

To my.

Speaker 1:

I never did either Do you understand why some people are like oh my god, another like place to tip. For sure like, and I obviously like, when we get tips at work. It's really nice. It's nice that we, like, are allowed to receive tips at work. Yeah, I have heard of other dispensaries that don't allow their employees to keep tips. Yeah, which?

Speaker 2:

is like just goes straight to the. You know, it's straight to the house.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think we are like, privileged to have that.

Speaker 2:

Evenly amongst whatever. Yeah, and like. Very straightforward here, it's very like and people do it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I don't know. I think yeah and like how it all started us early.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and like how it all sort of started at Cosmic Charlie is like us even getting tips in the first place, like it wasn't even us that asked for it, it was the customers that did. They were like you know, we want to, we want to give you guys some love, like you know, like there, because, like they had said about some other Dispensaries that have had the option for tipping, and you know so, like we, we keep the options very Low. You know, like like 5, 10, 15. I think those are our options, like you know.

Speaker 2:

If you want to know what it is, it's number three.

Speaker 1:

I don't know. I never expect to tip. It's funny, though, and people are like I tip. Yeah, it's like you don't have to do it, it's all good.

Speaker 2:

It's if you come into my store and you know exactly what you want and you know you're like I need the, I need the Jongi, and I'm like man, I got the Jongi and then I sell it to you. Maybe I don't. It's just the people that come in and they want and they have this like Really curated experience and like you know, really getting to know and all that I mean. We try to do that with every customer.

Speaker 1:

I mean, I feel like that's just like part of our job anyway. So yeah, and honestly, I feel like a tip, at least I don't know. I just feel like it shouldn't change their experience necessarily. No, exactly one. You know what I mean.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and hence why the tip is asked for after the service you know, it's like we don't care. At the end of the day, like we provided you with a good service, like you know up to our standard. So like, if you know, if you want to tip us, cool. If you don't cool. Like you know, we're not.

Speaker 2:

We love you either way, yeah, and I think you know, um, there was another point I wanted to make on that too. Just from you know, the business owner standpoint, from Sean and Charlie's. You know, obviously I can't speak for them, like I'm not, you know, speaking for them in any way, but from you know, from what I see and like from what they've told us, you know they're doing this like to help us as much as they can because, at the end of the day, like it's, it's so easy for someone to turn around and say, well, why don't, why doesn't the boss just pay them a fair wage? Why don't they just do that? Like I don't understand.

Speaker 2:

Like it's because, like, do you know what it takes to go into? Like, do you know what it takes to go into running a business? Like, yeah, you have product that you need to be bringing in, you have overhead, you have staff to pay, you have your hydro. Like, you have all these different things that, like, you need to worry about as well as your own life and your own family. And you know, like and so, like for people to just like turn around to me, like, oh, like, why not? Why doesn't the boss just pay them more? It's it's ignorant and it's sad like, but the artificial.

Speaker 1:

So are meant to supplement our exactly, exactly.

Speaker 2:

It's, it's to you know it's to help us like grab a couple things of lately. You know Grab a grab a salad on the way home, like you know grab, like grab your milk for the week. You know it's. You know it's just like small things that like, at the end it's not a bonus, it's not well. It is a bonus, but like, not like actually, actually, it's not making a significant change In what we're in, how we're getting paid and how we're living. You know it's.

Speaker 1:

You know it's just, it's hey you told me some good weed, you know.

Speaker 2:

Here's some money for like an extra cookie on your way home. You know what I mean. You did so nice. I'd like to give you a cookie.

Speaker 1:

I feel like a nice when people actually bring a cookie.

Speaker 2:

People bring food people bring snacks.

Speaker 1:

That's like the best tip.

Speaker 2:

This leads into a really good story, because I think we should definitely get into some customer stories. Love that. So, speaking of food, when I was at my previous dispensary, it was super near a college that had a culinary program going on and we had this guy. He was a homie I'm sorry man, I forget your name, but shout out to you. So he was in school, he'd always have all this, this food or whatever leftover and so he would like come by every day.

Speaker 2:

But this was like art, like because we didn't do tips at my last one, like properly. But this guy came in and like every day he'd come in with bags like plastic bags of tortellini, like all sauced up or whatever in there we put in the fridge. He comes in with lasagna sandwiches. We freaking love this guy and he smoked really good weed. So it was just nice to you know, get a little appreciation from the customer there and like giving us food because times are tough man. So it was really cool. Yeah, yeah, any any fun stories like from your old places. You worked at the illegal ones.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean, I guess, like the way it all kind of like when I quit, that was a story in itself, because yeah, it was crazy. I was like working one day. I think I was I don't remember what time I started, but it was like a mid-afternoon shift and like the phone rang like I'm not even exaggerating like a hundred times like.

Speaker 1:

And it was essentially just like a robot on the phone that was like Warning us that the store was gonna be rated within seven days, which, looking back, seven days, it definitely could have been like a prank or like not real like. But the company I worked for. They had multiple locations throughout Canada and all of the locations were getting the same phone calls Connecting through the telephone. Um, yeah, so either way, I was like Just kind of, like you know if that does happen, I don't Really want to particularly be here for that.

Speaker 1:

So you chill to not have that happen. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm like I Was pretty young at that time, obviously. I was like probably like 21 to so I was like I Don't really want a record and I don't really want to risk that happening.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, so unfortunately, as much as possible. Yeah, I left. Shout out to those people who stayed, though, shout out to those old fucking.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, they held it down. Yeah, they ended up getting locked out by their landlord. Oh, that was how it ended ultimately, but they didn't get rated, so Landlords.

Speaker 2:

Yeah yeah, I guess Like crazy stories, like you know. I guess like there was one that happened here about a year ago. So, like you know, it was probably the craziest experience I've ever. You know witness like working at a dispensary.

Speaker 1:

So I've only heard tales of this. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, sean and I were in the store that day and it was like a busy summer afternoon and if you've been in cosmic Charlize, you know where, the, where the tail is and everything. So we're back there, the both of us, cashing some people out, there's some people in the store and everything, and a gentleman had walked in with a ice cream from you know, just from down the street and and he had come in, you know, looking around, you know, and as we do go up and ask, you know, what can I help you with? What can I help you find? So, like you know, and he's just asking for a pre-roll, I think, indica pre-roll, something doesn't really matter.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, always the indica guys be like needed to chill, for sure, very much.

Speaker 2:

And so, anyways, I'm already at the back with some customers and Sean takes into the back to like show him a couple options, just because there were so many people out on the floor, and to show some a couple options, and Flip of a switch, zero to a hundred, screams at him like I fucking want to know if it's an indica or sativa. And then Like we don't, we don't deal with that here, we don't deal with harassment, we don't deal with any of that. So of course you know we're gonna kick you out. And so Sean's like all right time to go. And so Walk in a mountain like literally everyone in the, in the, in the storage, stop like it went silent, like and everyone like stare it was, it was intense, and so, and then, as he's walking him out, he starts going after like starts kicking in the door, like he starts kicking in the glass door. He ends up falling down and Sets him off and he ends up I swear to God's sparta kicking in our front glass window, like I was.

Speaker 1:

I've seen this image. It's insane. The image is quite insane and yeah, I remember seeing the security camera footage. Yeah like, I have that great job, but um, yeah, I know it was.

Speaker 2:

It was insane like police ended up getting called, you know taking away, you know. Oh man ended up getting that we had to get the whole front panel replaced. It was. It was a crazy time, but you know we, you know we came back from it. So you know we're awesome. I think Charlie tried to say something, oh maybe Charlie's calling from the grave. Well, it's all in days. The story is almost closed for the night. So yeah, that could be it too.

Speaker 2:

So yeah anyways, I also have one more crazy story to. We love crazy stories. Yeah, yeah, we love the tea. We we spill in the tea. We got tea right here, definitely tea.

Speaker 2:

Um yeah, so I had this. It was my first oh my god, like first two weeks of ever working in cannabis and, like you know, there's definitely a certain aspect of like there's a lot of types of people that are gonna come into your store and you got to know how to deal with each and every one of them and we love all of our customers. But yeah, it's definitely, you know, and it's it's. It can sometimes be a Little scary sometimes, but this guy came in.

Speaker 2:

He was super nice, whatever. He seemed like a, he seemed like a chill dude, and he came up and so at the place that I had worked at, there were these screens and we did all of our ordering through these like screens on the customer side and I was showing him what we got and I was standing, like I was standing, we were both standing in front of the screen. I was on the right, he was on the left and there was another customer to his left and then all of a sudden he starts leaning on me and I was like, oh man, like just getting a little close, leaning on me, leaning on me, and then he's falling on me and I'm like, oh my god, and I had to, like look sorry, like release him onto the floor. And his eyes were like wide open.

Speaker 2:

Oh my god, I was like what the like what is going on and I like get on my knees and oh yeah, everybody had masks on at the time and he, he's not, he's not, he doesn't die.

Speaker 1:

By the way, I don't mean to like scare you all into thinking that a man died in my old store.

Speaker 2:

No, he was like wide open, whatever, and you know most dispensaries or at least they should carry Naxalone, yeah so Naxalone, Naxalone, Naxalone.

Speaker 1:

Fuck sorry, yeah, you're right, we do carry it. So yeah, we carry it on.

Speaker 2:

Queen Street. You know, yeah, yeah, it's good to have, yeah, good to be safe. We love the community and we want to make sure the community is happy, safe and healthy arm reduction arm reduction and also just fun fact for anybody listening to this you can go to shoppers and get. You can get an naloxone kit there for free, with free training, everything. So I feel like that would. That's a great thing for anybody To do on their time off.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, just go to the shoppers and they'll give you like a quick little lesson, like you know, on how to properly administer and what to do.

Speaker 2:

So, yeah, try to get the nasal one, if you can a little bit easier to use but can be quite intense, yeah. But anyways, I didn't even have to use this, yeah. And so he was on and I remember, like leaning over him, looking up at the, at my manager at the time, and he was like huh. And I was like what Before? And I had this thought, I was like I don't know what I'm doing. And then all of a sudden he just shoots up. He just just back up on his knees and he's like oh, and I was like sir, are you okay? And he was like, yeah, man, you know she's been a rough day. Can I get the shred nard berry? He was like, totally fine, I want to see maybe narcoleptic or something, maybe. But yeah, it was super scary, yeah. Yeah, anyways, didn't mean to spook you, I mean it's almost spooky season, he's good.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he's good.

Speaker 2:

He walked out with that shred nard berry like a, like a gladiator winning his battle. Yeah, anyone got any lighter stories? Well, actually, yeah, let's try and bring it back. I Guess you know, like about people coming into the store. You know there have been, you know, some hot Celebrity sightings here. Yeah, I actually had the privilege of you know, serving Lekeith Stanfield and his wife, his partner, that both they both come in here Quite a few, I want to say maybe a year ago now, but they were the sweetest couple ever, so super humble. They bought a whole bunch of shit before they had it back home and they live in LA. So I'm not sure how they did that, but I'm not gonna say, I'm not gonna speculate, I'm not gonna say anything, I'm not gonna get them in trouble, but no, they were. They were amazing people. There was another time at an old store that I worked at, I had just missed him. But what's? What's his son's name? Will Smith.

Speaker 1:

Oh, jaden and Jaden Smith, no way.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, jaden Smith and Will Smith came into the story like they.

Speaker 1:

Yeah and well yeah, so like they had cut.

Speaker 2:

Smith himself, so like. So what had happened was like they like it's like someone like walked in like a normal looking guy, but like wearing a suit and like I was just like. Like we have some people like I, like friends outside, like want to want to come in I'm not sure the exact word because I wasn't there, but like.

Speaker 2:

Um, we're just like, oh, like, can they cut? Like come in, like by themselves, like shut the store down. Like you know, like they don't like, and we're like For who you know, and they said who. And we're like, uh, yeah, we could do that, like you know. So it's wild. They wanted you to like shut the store down though. Well, yeah, they weren't in there for too long, though I don't think they were in like a pair. Yeah, it was. It was Jaden that was doing the buying like he was doing the buying.

Speaker 2:

And then um Will was just like off to the side on this phone doing like doing as First time to be done, and then off they go, thinking about men in black.

Speaker 2:

We also have the drummer from Joyce Manor come in here once. I mean not smaller band, I don't go me on that. They were opening for Weezer and he came in. I didn't know who he was and then I was like, what are you doing tonight? And he was like, well, I'm actually opening for Weezer and I was like what, and that's basic. It was cool and I was actually at that concert too, so it was like love that, yeah. Yeah, any more celebrity stories for me, guys. Mm-hmm, well, not here, you know not in the sweet industry.

Speaker 2:

You know it's living in Toronto. You know and like working in Toronto, like you know, for the past couple years. You know you see some people and you know, Obviously some people like and that's the thing with Canada, I feel like with Canadians like and seeing celebrities like you know, especially like the higher up the list they are, you know we're less likely to like go and interrupt their day because you know I. It's, it's almost like you know. Oh, like don't want to, don't interrupt the if you don't, don't want to.

Speaker 1:

Don't want to be seen as the crazy fan. Yeah exactly.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, actually, I did see I was walking home from here once and I, uh, I swear I think it was him. I could be lying, though, you know, but the main guy from the watcher, like Bobby Cannonville, I think his name, is Never seen it. Oh it's, it's a great show. It's based on a true story. So, yeah, it's a little creepy, it's on netflix, but okay, yeah, jason Isaacson, a dumpling shop once.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, one of my friends threw napkin at him and I'm not gonna go any in any more detail because it's so much funnier.

Speaker 2:

If I don't oh, that's a lucy smell for those of you curious, yeah. Love that man. He was hot, he was foing Um. You know who else comes into our stores, our store pets yes, shout out to all of our lovely stoner pets out there. Yes, we love our. We love the animals that come in here. We are dog and cat and all animal and really uh any if it's through the door.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we say I saw snake here once. Yeah, my, my old store, um, I did actually, uh, I had like a big Python, it was some type of python, it was huge, like that was brought in one time, baby yeah that, and uh, a bearded dragon, mmm.

Speaker 1:

I definitely, you know, danny, he brought like.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you brought the lego gecko. Legos, legos, my gecko.

Speaker 1:

It was leopard geckos. Yeah, yeah, yeah, there's a cat in here a couple days ago For you. Oh, yes, we were there, oh that was so well behaved.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so, speaking of animals, so if you are a regular listener or a regular customer or just anybody, Uh everybody everybody, and if you love your animal and you love your pet or whatever, uh, please bring a picture of your pet to the store. We would love to post your picture. We would love to have, like a wall of pets, so that we can have them in the store all the time, because we always joke saying that we should have a daycare in the back here.

Speaker 1:

Yes you know, doggy daycare in the studio. It kind of used to be a doggy daycare back here. Oh really, yeah, when Juan worked here when I first started, yeah, I'd work with one of you two and he brought his dogs.

Speaker 2:

Oh cute I should bring my snake to the store. What do you guys think? I have a pet snake at home. Shout out bell. She's sleeping right now Lutter to death and she's a ball python.

Speaker 1:

Beatrice came here once. Hmm, beatrice came here once for cat oh yes, I need to meet them. They should bring her by. I know pet bring your pets.

Speaker 2:

Yes, bring your pets and bring photos of your pets so that we can love them and show the love, because, yeah, they're, they're the best parts of our days, you know.

Speaker 1:

I guess we're gonna take a little break. Take a little break. I'm gonna roll us a giant joint. I have like how bigger these papers? 12 inch raw rolling papers got foot long, five down a foot. I don't know if we're gonna smoke the entire joint.

Speaker 2:

Oh my god.

Speaker 1:

But I think we just kind of gotta do it for sure, but it will be. Wonderful yeah we're gonna do our very best. Um oh, and I think we're gonna try this. Yeah, the baked animal by pure sun farms. I was given this at Hall of Flowers today. We'll get like first impressions.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's um.

Speaker 1:

Um wait, what's it called again? Sorry, it's called baked animal hybrid. It's an animal face cross.

Speaker 2:

Are we about to be baked animal?

Speaker 1:

It also, oops, drop the boost. Oh my god, like there's a big choker in there.

Speaker 2:

Oh here's some for our melon.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, here I'll put on okay. Yeah, it's like how it's. Honestly, it's frosted, it smells really good. That's looks very good and they had it jarred as well and it did smell better in the jar. Yeah, to the bag, for sure, but um, I'm kind of got like a doughy smell to it. It's nice. They definitely have stepped their game up. I would say from like last year. Oh, ouchy tea, no. I mean they're stopping it up though.

Speaker 2:

So they were good before, better now, yeah. I like that 23.9%. Oh, not too crazy I that's nice.

Speaker 1:

What is the?

Speaker 2:

package Good question.

Speaker 1:

We should talk about THC hunters. Oh, August 25th, Okay that's pretty good, that's pretty fresh. A guy actually was telling them at their booth today. He's like I wish there's one thing I could correct about your product. It would just be that you list the harvest date For sure.

Speaker 2:

But just another line of text, guys, you can put it in there. Yeah, but yeah.

Speaker 1:

I guess we'll get to it. We'll be right back.

Speaker 2:

Let's go. That's how Dolly Parton, that's like part of it, that's an instrument on the song.

Speaker 1:

it's her nails, it's like the ch-ch-ch-ch-ch. That's her nails.

Speaker 2:

Can you hear this podcast? Welcome back everyone to the takeover of higher orbit. Yeah, welcome back. And we have started doing some crafts. Yeah, we're doing arts and crafts, craft time and then always craft time. It's that time of night, the store's closed. It is past 10. And you know, time to pick up a little something to keep the hand busy, what's everyone?

Speaker 2:

doing so. I am over here. I'm so sorry if you're going to hear this later. I'm doing a little bit of embroidery right now. I used to be really into it when I was younger and in high school, and I'm trying to have hobbies again, so I'm going back into an old one.

Speaker 1:

It's a little weed leaf, if you can see. I'm not much of an artist, but I'm going to stitch it Wow.

Speaker 2:

Pretty cool, thank you. I'm over here crocheting Nice and the midst of a new pullover sweater.

Speaker 1:

A sweater? Amazing, looks good. What are you working on, carl? I'm going to make a collage. I love it. Yeah, it's always kind of.

Speaker 2:

Tell us more about your collages. This is some of the art that you can buy at the shop. Yeah, so sneak peek, you're getting behind the scenes. Yeah, behind the scenes.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, first I'm going to find a background in one of these books? Yeah, that would be good.

Speaker 2:

So what are some other things you guys like to do when you're stoned? You know I've been maybe laying on the couch, toss on your favorite show and have your favorite munchie, but other than that, take a shower.

Speaker 1:

That's a good fucking bed.

Speaker 2:

That is a good one, it's been a cold day, you smoked a fat dooby outside, your toes are freezing off and you get in the shower and you're coughing really hard you sweat. Yeah, and you get in the shower. You guys ever done the Hawaiian hot box, oh yeah. I unfortunately, have not had the luxury to do that, not with where I've lived in the past and where I currently live. I only got to do it once. So, oh my God, am I going to tell this story?

Speaker 2:

So, I used to work at a lakeside resort that will remain very unnamed, and I remember they had a bunch of cabins under construction because this place had been there for so long, and they had all these falling apart little cabins in the back that the boys were supposed to shower in, and so oftentimes it was really far away from the other guests. But we would go into this thing. There was a broken bathtub that I would sit in and then, yeah, it did have running water somehow, I don't know how, and then we hot boxed it and, yeah, I'm pretty sure I saw God that night and God was very displeased with me. Yeah, well, I like to just sit at the park sometimes, or yeah, going outside for a nice walk, yeah, going out for a hawk girl walk.

Speaker 2:

You know that's the best hawk girl walk. Hawk girl walks with your pets.

Speaker 1:

That we want to see.

Speaker 2:

And even if you're a boy, you can hawk girl walk too. Anybody can hawk girl walk, absolutely. It is simply a name. It is for all. It is a sense of being, of how you feel. In that moment you have to feel the hawk girl and you are the hawk girl, yeah, and then you are the hawk girl. In that moment it's a being. So get out there and, hawk girl, walk everyone and let us know how it is.

Speaker 1:

Tag us, tag us in here Tag us in your hawk. Girl walks please, please.

Speaker 2:

That would make me very happy, it'll make our days. As you can see, I've already fucked up my craft.

Speaker 1:

Oh no, I've got a knot here that I can't undo.

Speaker 2:

Anyways, I think that's another thing about crafts, and another reason why we're doing this too is to show that you can do anything. You don't have to be good at something, I mean, even though we're all good at this, you know. We're all doing right now, but we are so good at this Like anybody can pick up anything and like just give it a go, just give it a start, you know. Link.

Speaker 1:

You never know if you're going to be really good or you're going to be really bad.

Speaker 2:

And if you're really bad, who cares? You know, like at least you're trying something new and you know you're stepping out of your box. You're stepping out of your comfort zone, like we're doing tonight with this podcast. Yeah, we were all kind of insanely nervous before this. Yeah, that's why we brought this stuff.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we were like let's give ourselves something to do yeah.

Speaker 2:

Something to fiddle with? Yeah, something to yeah. I'm just one of those people that just I always got to have something in my hands. You know what I mean to keep me entertained.

Speaker 1:

I'm like a monkey and this is like my enrichment you know my enclosure, my mic, oh man, okay, we're just going to like move it a little bit. Oh, that's okay.

Speaker 2:

That's good. Also, when we're down, got to go for the classic nature documentary. What's your favorite nature documentary right now, guys? Well, anybody. Anything where David Attenborough is narrating it. I'm down, I love, I live for Apparently. He's coming back. He's coming back to the he left. Well, he's like, oh yeah, 100. Like, leave a life. He came back from the dead. No, no, he did take a break like from from doing documentaries, but now he he is a parent. From what I heard, he is coming back to do one. So that is really exciting. I'm super excited for that. Have you seen the one with the spy cam animals? Super cute.

Speaker 1:

I think it's like little clips.

Speaker 2:

It's just like they get like a wolf cub and then they're like and it's oh my God, it's David Tennant. He's like the mother wolf is suspicious of this baby. It's so it urinates on it to like make it whatever.

Speaker 1:

I'm really stoned and I want my background. Oh sorry, found it.

Speaker 2:

It's okay, I'm literally. This is this looks like ass, like this, like first line.

Speaker 1:

I did at home.

Speaker 2:

And then the second line is like all janky and fucked up. You should see the back, nah.

Speaker 1:

See, it's gonna look sick. I'm killing it. Yeah, let's see, let's see, let's have a graph check. It's like a whole swatter happening. Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2:

So here we've got the front panel of my sweater. So you know I've got a, I got quite a bit to go. I got about like that much to go and then I still got a whole other back and other sleeves to do so it's a process and it's not a cheap craft, so don't do this.

Speaker 2:

That's true, embroidery, literally. I just had a massive bags of fabric on my floor, as you sort of are when you are like a creative or a costume person of any kind, and I just like slap this on a little wooden thing. This thread I've had for like 500 fucking years because I bought it like at Michael's, yeah.

Speaker 1:

And then it lasts forever.

Speaker 2:

Like a little string, exactly. So it's super cheap, easy to get into, you can do whatever you want. You can put whatever you want on here you crazy, crazy people out there. You can do whatever you want, love it. How'd you get into collaging?

Speaker 1:

Honestly, I think like I made a collage in art class in high school and then I just kind of like like doing that, cutting things out, and yeah, and then you put them on the paper and they were like nice, yeah, I don't know. It's kind of fun to just like arrange and compose little people. Have you ever seen those like?

Speaker 2:

really satisfying videos of people journaling, like they have like a whole page dedicated to like a theme and they're adding like layers of like lace and like flower petals and stuff.

Speaker 1:

Those are so satisfying when I'm stoned.

Speaker 2:

That's what I look at. That's what I love. Watching people journal and be creative and like watching something like that be created and completed like start to finish oh, that itches my brain. I love it. I also really love slime.

Speaker 1:

Oh, the slime in the slime, yeah, the slime reviews.

Speaker 2:

Slime reviews.

Speaker 1:

Slime reviews when they scoop it. Oh my God, I know exactly what you're talking about. I like the ice cream scoops.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's exactly what we're talking about. Yeah, okay, that's so fucking funny, so good.

Speaker 1:

Look at us. Go With like the kinetic sand. Those ones are good. Oh, those are crazy.

Speaker 2:

Oh.

Speaker 1:

God, yeah, it's good Sorry about that.

Speaker 2:

There's been a new like satisfaction trend of like bottles being like thrown downstairs.

Speaker 1:

Yes, oh my God, I love those. There's like windmills made of like chainsaw blades.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they look like like torture devices and then people like put their zodiac signs next to like each bottle that's fallen to be like. Which bottle falling is like this zodiac sign?

Speaker 1:

Fucking boys. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

No, sorry, you touched earlier Megan that you're a Gemini, so yeah. What are all our signs?

Speaker 1:

Gemini, a Libra and an Aries, walk into the weed store.

Speaker 2:

And then we're here. Now we're here, yeah, but no, I wasn't like super into zodiac stuff before and I don't know. Mercury retrograded and here I am. I am a Gemini sun, pisces, moon and a Pisces rising. It means watch the fuck out. It's rough out here. That's my zodiac sign. What about you, carly?

Speaker 1:

I'm an Aries with a Scorpio moon, so fire and water. Am I drowning? Am I drowning? I don't know. But then I have a Taurus rising, so it all kind of like balances things out. Yeah, you're just headstrong.

Speaker 2:

You are out there, yeah, yeah, and proud of you for it. That's yeah. So I'm a Libra. Yeah, I'm a Libra, yeah, I'm a Libra. Sun, virgo, moon, libra rising. So double Libra, another double out here. I'm like a whirlwind of emotions. Well, it's also like logic and ration, rational thinking. You are so logically emotional.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yeah, honestly, yeah, that's right, that's right.

Speaker 2:

But you're still great. Yeah, shout out. We just said we weren't going to do shout outs, but I really. I would like to take a second to be a little bit of an emotional bean right now, because I'm new to the team and I just want to say thank you, guys for accepting me into your midst. I love working at Cosmic Charlie's. It's so nice to connect with you both.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you did right in Ran away. Thank you.

Speaker 2:

And I just really like you guys and they help along. They're good and it's a good store, and so are Sean and Charlie. I'm just all. I'm just all gushy because get to be on this really cool podcast together and do arts and crafts?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, this is awesome.

Speaker 2:

I love that. Can we also take a second to mean Lauren are not related Like every day People? Thought Lauren and Megan were the same person, the first like month you went to the store longer until Megan Dider hair blue.

Speaker 1:

Then people, then they got it. Yeah, then people saw comparing us.

Speaker 2:

But yeah, it was hilarious. I mean, to be honest, we're the same height. We got a similar tone of voice yeah, yeah, we're. You know, we, we were Bad bitches, yeah. So, yeah, that's pretty funny. Just shout out to the customers on that one. Thanks for you know.

Speaker 1:

Like, and they were so funny, I changed your hair.

Speaker 2:

They would come and be like what you gave me was so awesome and I'm like I don't know, I don't think that was me Never seen you in my life Like, but we both give good recommendations.

Speaker 1:

So there you go, yes.

Speaker 2:

Good recommendations, and you know.

Speaker 1:

We're just getting my mic with my arts and crafts Good.

Speaker 2:

What? What music are you guys listening to right now, like, what's, what's your vibe I'm listening to? I'm getting into my fall era, so I'm listening to a lot of like, just alternative. Like you know, don't even have bands, really, to be honest.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's my one thing, that.

Speaker 2:

I'm person. Yeah, I'm a song person like I, or like I'm a vibes, like I'll put something on in my own album and then whatever plays after that I'll be like oh, I like that song. I'll add that. I like that song. I'll add that so. I did my first Speaking of those magical, magical little guys. What do you guys?

Speaker 1:

how do you guys feel?

Speaker 2:

about mushrooms being legalized eventually. Maybe all those shops on the street. What are we thinking about that?

Speaker 1:

I think restricting Drugs from people in general, it's just kind of not the move. Yeah, we're didn't really work out, you know? Yeah, I mean people are, we are anyways, and it's like you may as well just make it accessible and like you know what you're getting and yeah, that's the case. Yeah, I don't know people are gonna like seek it out anyways.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I definitely, like I can definitely see that, but I definitely think, like you know, maybe there should be I Mean I could be totally wrong and I there probably is a section of the government that's dedicated to this but, like, if there is a section like fully for, like, the legalization of different drugs in Canada and if they were focused solely on that and the regulation, and like if it was like per province and they were solely focused on that in the sense of, like they know how many stores are can be there there's, there should be a cap on stores because, like in Ontario, there's no cap on dispensaries.

Speaker 1:

Oh my god, there's none for cannabis dispensaries?

Speaker 2:

There's none, like you know. It's the first thing that like older people tell me when they come into the store and they've never been to illegal dispensary. They're like there are so many of you. Do you know about this one and this one and this one?

Speaker 2:

I'm like we know, we know there's a lot of them like there's new ones opening up every day, yeah, so, so you know, if there is, I feel like, if you know Obviously there needs to be some restrictions with it. You know and like have like rules, obviously you know it can't be like, you know Obviously, like 19 plus or 21 plus, you know like, even you know like I mean, they're not for everyone. Exactly, I think there just needs to be more education too for people.

Speaker 2:

Absolutely just because, like, there's still so much stigma, even even with cannabis, like you know, like, like anybody that smokes Cannabis is lazy and they don't have a job and whatever. Like what we smoke cannabis and we have jobs. So you know, it's yeah, it's yeah. That's my point on that Words.

Speaker 1:

I just, I just see a lot of competitions of to when weed was Was still gray market.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you know what I mean. It's funny. It's like you know, when I was like young, like before I was like of legal smoking age, I watched all the little dispensaries begin to pop up as I Became of age and then watching that grow and like I remember the night that weed was legalized?

Speaker 1:

Was it October 12th, october 17th, 17th? That was close.

Speaker 2:

But yeah, I remember like just smoking big dudes with my roommate and eating an entire type of ice cream, like just between the two of us, like with spoons, and then, yeah, I'm just watching all these other dispensers grow and have cosmic Charlie's. That's how Charlie's got here.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Yay, and we love our little store. So Ontario didn't have stores for the first while. Right, no, they had a couple, they didn't lottery, we had a honey pot and over. Okay, in Tokyo, like out on October 17th, oh, no, no, no, no, 17. No, the honey pot.

Speaker 2:

I'm pretty sure the honey pot was like the week of or something like there was a lot because it was a lottery so the lottery system, yeah, you just sort of Everyone toss their hat into the ring and, yeah, whoever's got hack up holds. Yeah, got the store. Yeah, it was an exciting time, and then they threw that thing out the window. They're like everyone can have a store, fuck it, everyone make, try make some money, like. But it's not that easy guys, it's not that easy opening up a cannabis store?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and it's not easy money either, like no, it's not like you know You're.

Speaker 2:

You're getting pounds and pounds of weed and selling it and making crap tons of profit. At the end of the day, it's still retail like it's still a business. It's still a store, but like you'd also.

Speaker 1:

I feel like you don't make a lot of profit in this industry, though, off of cannabis sales at all.

Speaker 2:

Well, no, especially well, yeah, I was like there's a lot like.

Speaker 1:

I mean, I don't know exactly how it is in Ontario, but I know in Manitoba like you have to pay extra fees like Associated extra tax. They don't call it a tax but it's like a social responsibility fee, literally, I'm pretty sure Manitoba yeah, legalization rolled out. There's a social like it was you're charged 13%, but one of it is so that's our tax.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, 15% is our tax here.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, but like part of that wasn't technically a tax. Okay, yeah, I don't know. Anyway, yeah, weird stuff but weird times things always still a change in things still, or be a change in for sure. Oh, the time they are changing. I said Serenade you all at home.

Speaker 2:

How you doing in that to the shout out to the one guy in his car listening to this. I Hope you're doing good, check your trunk, I'm in there. But yeah, no, we'd love to maybe do this again.

Speaker 1:

You know the three of us love to this has been so much fun.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you know, like you know, I think we're more topics and even Maybe we'll put out some questions out to you guys and, like you guys can like, come at us with some questions, or you know we'll do like a and you can, you guys can come up with the things instead of us. You know, going on to this weird website, yeah, damn we go sign off yeah. To she's Matt from she's you know, she's our sponsor for this week's episode and probably coming episode?

Speaker 2:

She's yes you know the cherry cola, get it. Well, you can, because that shit sells out fast at any dispenser. It does the stars hard to keep around. Yeah, when people drink it, they just go.
